Wesen und Aktivitäten, die hauptsächlich in der „Ilias“ und der „Odyssee“ des Homer
beschrieben sind, beschäftigen. Des Weiteren werde ich näher auf die Herkunft und
Entwicklung des Kultes eingehen und dabei auch den frühen Artemis – Kult in Kleinasien
ausführlicher beschreiben. Zudem werde ich auch die Kultorte und Riten der Artemis in
der griechischen Antike darlegen.
Die verwendete Literatur ist Sekundärliteratur, es werden aber auch Zitate aus einer
Übersetzung des Homer Eingang finden. Bei der Sichtung der Literatur fällt auf, dass sich
sehr viele Werke vor allem mit dem Artemis – Kult im kleinasiatischen Ephesos
beschäftigen und die griechische Göttin Artemis weniger ausführlich behandelt wird.
Möglicherweise hat dies seinen Ursprung in der Bedeutung des ephesischen Artemis –
Tempels als eines der sieben Weltwunder. Daher werde ich mich bei der Betrachtung der
griechischen Göttin Artemis vor allem auf den Neuen Pauly und die Realencyclopädie der
Classischen Altertumswissenschaften stützen, wobei hierbei allerdings zumeist aus dem
Neuen Pauly zitiert wird, da viele Informationen der Realencyclopädie dort verständlicher
beschrieben werden. Daneben ist auch das net in begrenztem Maße als Quelle
nützlich, da ich hier einige Informationen finden konnte, die in Büchern nur unzureichend
oder ausschweifend behandelt werden.
Verfasst wird diese Arbeit in der neuen deutschen Rechtschreibung, wobei sowohl direkte
Zitate als auch Eigennamen keine Änderung erfahren.
